5 Tips to Help You With Busy Weekday Meals

September is here and it's back to school, back to work, back from the beach house, and yes…back to rushing around. Lazy afternoons with fresh corn in the cob and cool salads are becoming a distant memory as we gear up for fall and back to the old grind. But help is here!

At Venezia, we know how hard it is for you to rush around, do what you have to do, and make healthy, simple, and delicious meals on top of everything else. Here are a few tips to help you get through the week, for both dinners and lunches, deliciously and easily.


Prepare Ingredients Ahead of Time
: Even if you spend a little time over the weekend prepping your ingredients, you will notice the time saved during the week. Chop up veggies, wash the lettuce, cut up fruit slices (except for apples and other fruits that can turn brown) trim the beans, and so forth. Stored in sealed, air-tight containers they'll be your best friends throughout the week.


Double Up Dinners and Lunches: Consider making casseroles and skillet dishes that can be eaten for lunch the next day. Pasta's already cooked so add some freshly steamed veggies; slice last night's chicken to make it salad-ready, soups and stews are no brainers when it comes to next day meals.

Keep Simple Add-Ons Handy: Cans of beans, tuna, croutons, nuts, seeds – all add taste, texture and nutrition to your meals. They also add interest and can make a ho-hum meal into something a little bit different. Even granola and yogurt can be a delicious and quick running-out-the-door breakfast or lunch.


Frozen is Fine: It's packed right after it's picked, so next to fresh, frozen is the most nutritious. Add frozen veggies to a stew, or soup. Let oatmeal soak overnight with a little yogurt, milk, and frozen berries. Pile on all the fixing to a frozen veggie burger or chicken patty and your taste buds will thank you. A little hot sauce, sirracha sauce, fresh onion, tomato and lettuce (that you already prepared earlier in the week) and you've got one heck of a delicious and nutritious meal.
